What to expect at Hintertux Glacier

Hintertux is one of only two Austrian glaciers to run every day of the year. The village is a dead-end hamlet at the top of the Zillertal at 1,500 m, no wider ski circus, no big après scene, and its whole reason for existing is the glacier that starts at 2,100 m and climbs to 3,250 m. The lift company builds ice tunnels into the glacier that you can ski through, and it hosts national ski teams for early-season training every October and November. In summer this is where you'll find lift-served skiing in Europe when almost nowhere else has it.
