Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Slope Scout collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it.
Last updated: February 2026
Who we are
Slope Scout is an independent resort research site covering ski and snowboard destinations across Europe. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise any of your rights, email hello@slopescout.com or use our contact form.
What we collect
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site.
- Contact form submissions: your name, email address, optional company name, enquiry type and message.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type and pages viewed, collected in server logs and, where you consent, analytics cookies.
- Advertising enquiries: any commercial details you choose to send us.
Why we use it and our legal basis
We use contact details to answer your enquiry, which is necessary for our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch, and to take steps at your request before entering a contract if the enquiry is commercial.
We use technical and analytics data to keep the site secure, diagnose faults and understand which pages are useful. Non-essential analytics and advertising cookies are used only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, such as our hosting and database provider, and only so far as they need it to deliver that service. Some providers may process data outside the UK or EEA; where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages are retained for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then deleted. Server logs are retained for up to 12 months. Aggregated analytics that cannot identify you may be kept longer.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data where we no longer need it.
- Restrict or object to how we use it, including profiling for advertising.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for cookies or marketing at any time.
Complaints
We would rather hear from you first, but you have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. In the EU it is the data protection authority in your country of residence.
Children
Slope Scout is aimed at adults planning ski and snowboard trips. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least once a season. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised date at the top.
