What to expect at Nevis Range

Nevis Range is on Aonach Mor, the eighth-highest mountain in the UK, above Fort William in the western Highlands. Base is at 90 m by Loch Linnhe, and the UK's only mountain gondola climbs to 655 m before drag lifts take skiers up to the plateau at 1,221 m. The lift-served terrain is modest at around 20 km, but the Back Corries, hike-accessed, north-east-facing and steep, are Scotland's most serious lift-served off-piste, and hold snow later than anywhere else in the country. Fort William itself is more mountaineering town than ski resort, and doubles as base for Ben Nevis in summer and downhill mountain biking.
