La Rosière

Nestled at 1,850m in the French Alps' Tarentaise Valley, La Rosière is a charming, south-facing resort offering reliable snow from mid-December to late April. Its unique selling point is the direct link to La Thuile in Italy, forming the Espace San Bernardo ski area, allowing for cross-border adventures within a single holiday.

With 156km of pistes and a vertical drop of 1,600m, La Rosière caters to all abilities. From gentle beginner slopes and wide, confidence-building runs for intermediates, to challenging off-piste itineraries for advanced skiers, the resort's modern lift system ensures efficient access to terrain stretching up to 2,800m.

La Rosière presents a relaxed skiing and snowboarding experience with notably short lift queues. The south-facing slopes benefit from ample sunshine, contributing to pleasant conditions. The cross-border connection to La Thuile significantly expands the available terrain, providing diverse skiing options without the need for additional transport. Expect long, flowing runs that are particularly well-suited to intermediate skiers, alongside readily accessible off-piste areas for those looking to explore further.

Beginners will find La Rosière highly accommodating, with gentle nursery slopes at village level in both La Rosière 1850 and Les Eucherts. The sunny aspect often leads to forgiving snow, aiding progression. Beyond the nursery areas, numerous gentle blue runs allow new skiers to advance comfortably across the mountain. Intermediate skiers are well catered for with extensive blue and red pistes offering varied descents, including wide-open sections and more technical forested runs. A highlight is the Col de la Traversette run, leading into Italy, where the skiing character shifts to include steeper pitches and different vistas. Advanced skiers can tackle genuinely challenging black runs, particularly in the Belvedere sector on the Italian side, or the demanding terrain from Col de la Traversette and Fort du Truc on the French side. The resort also offers excellent off-piste opportunities, especially above the Col de la Traversette, often remaining untracked for longer than in larger resorts.
