What to expect at Cairngorm Mountain

Cairngorm Mountain rises above Aviemore in the Highlands and remains Scotland's most visited winter sports venue. Skiing is served from a base at 637 m by the Cairngorm funicular railway, a T-bar and a network of Poma and rope lifts up to 1,097 m on Cairn Gorm itself. Snow is entirely at the mercy of North Atlantic weather, some winters deliver deep cover from December to April, others are meagre, but when it is on, the terrain in the Coire Cas, Coire na Ciste and Ptarmigan bowls is genuinely wild. The Aviemore base town has a good pub and restaurant scene and is a proper year-round outdoor destination.
