What to expect at Kitzsteinhorn

The Kitzsteinhorn is Salzburg province's only glacier, rising above Kaprun and Zell am See to 3,029 m. It has been a training venue for national teams since the 1960s and remains open for skiing eight months a year, with the top lifts on the glacier itself and a linked lower area on the Maiskogel. The Kitzsteinhorn Snowpark is one of the best in Austria and has hosted World Cup slopestyle rounds. The Gipfelwelt 3000 viewing platform on the summit is a proper attraction in its own right. Combined with the low Maiskogel gondola from Kaprun village, the resort spans 2,000 vertical metres of skiing.
