What to expect at Champagny-En-Vanoise

Champagny-En-Vanoise feels a world away from the busier, purpose-built resorts that are typical of the French Alps. This traditional Savoyard village sits at 1,250m, with lifts rising to 3,000m and direct access to the full Paradiski ski area. Tucked into the Tarentaise Valley on the quieter side of La Plagne, the village itself is compact and charming, with stone chalets, a 17th-century church, and a pace of life that suits those seeking an authentic alpine experience.

From Champagny, skiers and snowboarders can explore 225km of pistes across the La Plagne and Les Arcs network. The terrain ranges from gentle nursery slopes in the village to long, sweeping runs through the trees and above-the-treeline bowls at altitude. Its season typically runs from mid-December through to late April, with access to the glacier at over 3,000m and snow conditions tend to stay reliable throughout the winter.

Beyond the pistes, Champagny-En-Vanoise is full of genuine Savoyard hospitality. The village has a handful of excellent restaurants serving local specialities, cosy bars for unwinding after a day on the mountain, and easy access to the Vanoise National Park for winter walking or cross-country skiing. For those who want the vast terrain of Paradiski without the purpose-built resort atmosphere, Champagny is a smart choice.
