What to expect at The Lecht

The Lecht sits high on the A939 'Snow Roads' route between Tomintoul and Cockbridge at 640 m, one of the highest public roads in Britain and often the first place in Scotland to get skiable cover each winter. It is a small, open, treeless ski area, 20 km of largely gentle piste on a broad moor, but its snowsports school and terrain park have a strong reputation, and it is a lot of families' first ski experience. Because the base is already so high, snow reliability is better than the size of the area suggests, and the drive from Aberdeen is barely 90 minutes.
