Kotelnica

Kotelnica Białczańska, nestled within the Podhale region of southern Poland, is a leading ski destination, frequently recognised at the World Ski Awards. The resort is set within the authentic village of Białka Tatrzańska, offering traditional wooden architecture and a warm local character at an elevation of approximately 680m. Its convenient location, just 20 minutes from Zakopane and two hours from Kraków, makes it easily accessible.

The resort provides about 20km of pistes across 26 runs, ranging from 680m to 910m. The terrain largely consists of blue runs, supplemented by green runs for beginners and red runs for more experienced skiers. A modern lift system and 100% snow-making coverage ensure reliable conditions from mid-December to early April. Kotelnica is also part of the Tatry Super Ski pass, linking 19 resorts across the Polish and Slovak Tatra Mountains, offering over 84km of slopes on a single ticket.

Kotelnica offers a diverse skiing and snowboarding experience with meticulously groomed, wide runs and impressive views of the Tatra Mountains. The ski area spans Kotelnica mountain (918m) and Jankulakowski Wierch (934m), with three interconnected sectors: Kotelnica, Kaniówka, and Bania, all accessible with one pass. Slopes wind through open areas and light forests.

The majority of pistes are blue-graded, making it an excellent location for confidence building and technique refinement. Six red runs present additional challenges, including an FIS-certified downhill course. Night skiing is available on several lit runs. The resort's 22 lifts, including four high-speed six-seater chairs, ensure efficient movement across the mountain, complemented by comprehensive snow-making facilities.

Kotelnica is particularly well-suited for beginners, providing an encouraging environment for those new to skiing. Four gentle green runs at the base, served by magic carpet lifts, alongside the dedicated Kaniówka beginner area, offer an ideal starting point. The STOK Ski School, the resort's official institution, provides group and private lessons for all ages, focusing on skill development and confidence.

Intermediate skiers will find an extensive selection of terrain, with 16 blue runs that are wide, consistently groomed, and long enough for technique practice. Six red runs, including the FIS downhill course, offer a step up in challenge. The compact layout allows for efficient exploration of the entire area. The Viewpoint Inn at the summit of Kotelnica is a popular spot for refreshments and panoramic views.

While Kotelnica primarily caters to beginners and intermediates, advanced skiers will find six red runs, including an FIS-certified downhill course, to test their abilities. There are no black runs, and off-piste opportunities are limited.

For those seeking more challenging terrain, the Tatry Super Ski pass is highly recommended. This pass allows access to 19 resorts across the Tatra Mountains, including Zakopane's Kasprowy Wierch (1,987m), which offers a substantial 940m vertical drop, and various Slovak resorts. Kotelnica serves as an excellent base for mixed-ability groups, allowing advanced skiers to explore the wider region while others enjoy the resort's home slopes.
