The week in short

Snowfall over the past week

The resorts that picked up the most new snow in the seven days just gone, in centimetres. We have now banked 2 weeks of observed snowfall, and the archive grows every Monday.

Country by country

Austria had the best of it, averaging 0.1 cm across its 40 resorts, with Kitzsteinhorn the pick of them on 1.4 cm.

France, Switzerland and Italy followed, on 0 cm, 0 cm and 0 cm per resort respectively.

It stayed dry in Norway, Finland, Scotland and Poland, where the week's totals rounded to nothing. Anyone heading there should be checking base depths and snowmaking rather than powder forecasts.

What's coming

Over the next seven days the same model has the average across our resorts at 0 cm. Cover is on the thin side and the outlook does not change that much.

The models show no meaningful snow anywhere on our list over the next seven days either. Worth revisiting once the pattern shifts.

How we put this together

Every figure here comes from Open-Meteo's mountain weather model, sampled at the coordinates we hold for each resort and totalled over the seven days to 27 Sept 2026. Snowfall is modelled rather than measured on the hill, so treat it as a comparison between resorts rather than a reading from a snow stake. The words are ours.

The bar chart shows what the model recorded over the week just gone, and we now bank those totals week by week. That archive only started recently, so the backward looking picture will get richer as the weeks add up. We would rather show a short history than invent numbers for weeks we did not measure.
